We haven’t been traveling much in the last year. We spent another summer camp hosting at Woodson State Park outside of Chico, California. In September we moved south to the Palm Springs area and will spend the wintrer here in Desert Hot Springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was such an interesting place to check out. It is the center of Desert Hot Springs, California. This area has volcanic heat under it (Think San Andreas Fault). We in fact have three hot spring sauna’s and a spring heated pool at the park we are staying at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabot Yerxa was an adventurer, artist, and human rights advocate who built a Hopi-inspired pueblo out of reclaimed materials to highlight the culture and contributions of Native Americans. In doing this he drilled several wells. One of them came up at 145 degrees Fahrenheit. He dug another about 60 feet away and it came up with cold water. This started the whole healing springs economy in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the view as you approach. I didn’t take any photos inside – mostly because I forgot, but the rooms weren’t that notable. The stairs and doors were fun though. Some of the stairs were only 18 inches wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had several Native American friends and one of them did this for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
