Monterey

We have spent the last two and half months at Sunset Beach on Monterey Bay. It is about half-way between Santa Cruz to the north and Monterey on the south. Whenever I think of California I have always thought of everything below San Fransisco as warm and sunny. Well this stay has removed that thought!

We have had some nice days but it has for the most part been cloudy and chilly. The last two weeks we are here is rainy every day.

In spite of this we have done some fun things – Natural Bridges State Park, whale watching, checking out the surf, and hopefully next week the Monterey Aquarium. Below are a bunch of photos – I hope you enjoy.

Natural Bridges State Park.

The Monterey Aquarium was so much fun! They specialize in Jellyfish (They call them Jellies). We went on a holiday so it was really busy but was still wonderful. Lunch was in a restaurant overlooking the bay and the sea lions were busy playing.

There was an interesting farmhouse on the property. I don’t know what its history is but it was fun to check out.

We took a day and drove down to Big Sur (where the fancy people live). About three weeks after we visited the road was closed indefinitely because of mud slides.

We spent some time in Santa Cruz – just north of where we were staying. The pier had restaurants and store and a couple of fish mongers. There were lots of sea lions hanging our under the pier.
