We were struggling to find a good place to boondock in the Phoenix area. The places we liked were soaking wet and the places that were dry weren’t very interesting. So – we drove the 150 miles south to one of our favorite places, Fortuna Pond, just outside of Yuma. There aren’t many people here, about 8 rigs so we ended up with what we think is the very best spot!
We have settled in here until they kick us out (unlikely) or it gets too hot (probably another 3 weeks. Kate is painting rocks and I have been working on baskets. We are both enjoying it and getting better at it. Max is having a wonderful time – lots of sniffs and a few dogs to visit.
So – how do we stay social with the dual challenge of being nomads and the world become quarantined? We do several things. Facebook isn’t great anymore. Full of angry people blaming everyone else (I do enjoy fomenting the a little…). We have an app called RVillage that connects us with other travelers. It is very similar to Facebook but without the rancor and focused on RVers.
Another thing we do is send notes and postcards to friends and family. For that we use an App called Touchnote. It allows you to upload photos that you’ve taken and send them as a personalized card to anyone in the world. The card arrives just as if you had purchased it in a gift shop and mailed it yourself. We send quite a few and they only cost about a dollar a piece.
Of course I do this blog as well, and hope that you enjoy it. Go ahead, sign up and receive notification of the next blog! 🙂
Max says it’s time for a nap, and of course he is always right.
