Montezuma’s Castle & Sedona

We moved from Arizona Conservation land to an RV park in Camp Verde because the expected rain would have flooded us and mired us in mud. It put us a little further north so we could do some sightseeing in that direction. We decided to see Montezuma’s Castle and the town of Sedona.

It turns out that it is not a castle and has nothing to do with Montezuma. It was occupied as a “temporary” home for 700 years. It is located right next to the Verde River and was a lush, very rich area. This area was also the center for trade for several centuries.

Sedona is about an hour north of Montezuma’s Castle and is in the Red Rock area. It is known for both the beautiful mountains and the art that comes out of the area. I found the town itself not very interesting. It seemed like just another tourist town, with t-shirts and trinkets. We did succumb to the temptations and bought matching red dirt T-shirts. You’ll see them in a future photo. I’m sure there are nice stores and lots to see, but it isn’t very evident on a short visit. The mountains though are spectacular.

Max stay home, stay safe, and wash your hands! Oh, and give your favorite doggie a treat!
