Bouncing around Arizona

Like most people in the country, our plans have yielded to the C-virus. While neither of us has been sick with it – although we think Kate might have had a mild version of it in January – we are staying at our RV and not doing much. Our black tank (toilet waste) lasts about 12 days before needing to be emptied. We have been moving from place to place each time we need to empty the tank.

Our first move was to BLM land just west of Phoenix. It was absolutely beautiful. We saw several lizards and a sidewinder snake. The flies were horrendous though! We couldn’t stay outside at all and I could barely use the grill. After we left, we found out that there is a chicken farm not too far away – FLIES!

We then moved to State conservation land just north of Phoenix, outside of New River. Mex loves this place. The ground is firm and not rocky so it is easy on his paws. It has been hot enough to lay outside but not too hot. We have been able to sit outside a couple of times a day. A few nights ago we were sitting outside and a young, female, coyote roamed past us, about 100 feet away. She kept pacing back and forth, closer and closer. She knew we were there but seemed curious. Max finally saw her and leaped up, ready to run and greet this new friend! I leapt up and grabbed him the scruff and put him inside – he was grouchy!

We have been designing the new kitchen we will put in when we get to South Dakota. Lots of things to think about and decide. We have the sink, stove, and frig picked out. Most of the cabinets are designed so it is mostly down to lighting and colors. Fun stuff.

It’s starting to get hot here – upper 90’s by the end of this week so we are planning to start north, slowly. Tuesday we are heading to Winslow, Arizona so watch out for our next selfie 🙂

West of Phoenix

This fellow sat in a tree just outside the camper

Saddle Mountain

One of the friends we found on a walk.

We saw many of these on our way to Saddle Mtn

Sidewinder – a small one

I close with a photo of Max, who is really enjoying all the smells here.
